Flash player version
« on: April 02, 2009, 03:49:58 pm »
Hi,

I'm testing a sample flip book with variuos browsers on a windows XP machine with Flash Player 9.0.47:

Internet Explorer 6 -> ok
Firefox 3 -> I see an empty page
Opera 9 -> Requires to install Flash Player 10

Any idea?

Thank you very much

Hi,

I'm running FF3 myself, but I have FP10 installed, so I cannot tell if it does
work with the 9er version. I am compiling for FP9, though, so I cannot see
why it shouldn't work if it does in IE.
But I was experimenting with FP10 compliance, and as it is human to err it
might be I accidentally packed a version compiled for FP10 with the last
version. Could you try if it works with a previous version?
If it still doesn't, could you provide a link? Else I'll have to reupload v1.33.

Today I continued my tests on a Vista machine with Flash Player 9.0.124 with no problems on FF2, FF3, MSIE7, Opera9... Tomorrow I'll test on another WinXP machine and on a Linux machine but it seems to me quite strange. BTW yesterday I also tested your demo on the WinXP machine with the *same* results... Is it possible to have such differences on a player sub-sub-versions (9.0.47 vs 9.0.124)?

Well, there were some major changes in 9.0.115, but nothing that should affect the display of images... if at all, it could be that videos cannot be displayed in previous versions. The rest is only performance related. The release notes @adobe.
I'll download the the debugger version of .47 later today and see if any exceptions pop up...

Update: OK, so I tested it with the standalone debugger, and it works fine here (I'm running Vista, though). I'll attach the exe, so feel free to test it with that on your XP machine. Just move the exe to the folder with the megazine.swf, run it and then drag and drop the megazine.swf into the window.

Well, today I performed my usual test on a WinXP machine with player 9.0.45 and on my EeePC/Xandros with 9.0.124. All tests ok (Opera9, FF2, FF3). Mmmh, perhaps it's only a local problem on my first WinXP test machine. Monday I'll try that machine again and I'll test the debugger...
Thank you very much

Ok, today I solved the problem in my first WinXP machine. There were two Flash Player builds 9.0.47 and 9.0.16 at the same time (I have no idea why). So I removed them using the uninstall utility supplied by Adobe and then reinstalled the 9.0.47... now everything goes fine.
Thank you very much and sorry for the "false alarm".
