How to burn exe megazine to disc
« on: September 20, 2009, 08:34:50 am »
How would I go about burning megazine that opens with exe to disc? What are the available export avenues? When I try to load the files to the burner the XMLand SWF files (among others) are not supported.

Any suggestions or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to search the forum??

There e.g. is a tutorial about this in the Tutorial category:
http://megazine.mightypirates.de/forum/index.php/topic,324.0.html

And this topic was discussed in some posts also.
Soon I plan to publish a new video tutorial about this (will be listed in the Tutorials section also).

Thank you for your response. Yes, I had previously created the exe according to the link that you supplied. That was not my question. How can I burn this to DVD and have the megazine automatically begin playing without initiating with the toolbar? I have tried adding an autorun.inf file but it doesn't automatically play. I also set pagestart to true and no help there. Any further direction would be greatly appreciated.

OK...
Looks like you are doing the right things (supposed you used slidestart and not pagestart ;-).

A real autostart depends on the OS.
With Windows XP this was possible, with Vista and Windows 7 you need to confirm the start (security thing).

But when the book opens and you see the navigation bar already, then the slidestart parameter should be the one to get the slide show running without further user interaction.

Did you wait long enough ;-)?

O.K...I found that burning to disc was not so great a problem. Simply burning the files and exe is fairly straightforward. The exe causes the application to run.

I did run into and solve another problem. That being posting an online example of the megazine without using a web based process (YouTube, Vimeo etc). That can be accomplished by doing a screen capture using Camtasia Studio and rendered as an AVI.

Thank you for the hint. I already used Camtasia Studio to do the screen captures for the YouTube Tutorial Videos (see links in the Tutorial Category).

And I agree: that is a straight forward, flexible and an easy process

An older version of Camtasia is available as freeware, but my experience is that the latest version (the actual commercial product) is much more perfomant.
