[Beta] MegaZine3 Version 2.0.0 Beta 2
« on: September 21, 2009, 11:28:02 pm »

If you haven't already, please read the information about Beta 1 first, thank you.

Now, this is Beta 2, which should solve some issues people experienced, most prominently performance issues especially directly after loading the book, but also an overall speedup.

Hopefully all bugs/problems that have been reported so far are fixed, if I forgot you, my apologies. To make the management of feature requests and bug reports a bit easier, I have set up a bug tracker for the project. I will keep the bugs board alive a little longer, but eventually all bug reports should be handled through the tracker (the tracker will be announced in the bugs board when 2.0 is released).
As for feature requests/suggestions, the suggestions board will remain, to allow discussion of the necessity or exact requirements of certain features before adding them in the tracker.

Changes since Beta 1:
  • fixed some performance issues
  • reimplemented password form (will need some testing, layers might be messed up if plugins finish loading in another order)
  • fixed bug of the default language not being recognized (always used english)
  • readded liquid scaling for pages (book@minscale, book@maxscale, book@fillrate). Needs some more work, but works in principle.
  • fixed issues in right to left reading mode, and some possible (related) problems in normal reading mode
  • Localizations: a few constants have been changed, to keep the naming consistent. That means that in gallery mode, only english will work, unless you update your localization file (LNG_ZOOM_XXX -> LNG_GALLERY_XXX).
  • stuff

Anyway, please have a look and see if you find anything broken.

"Old" users: people who have been using version 1.x will notice that the navigation bar looks a little different. It is now split into controls and page buttons. Thing is, that - as much flexibilty as the new GUI framework brings - there are some (few) things which are not possible that were before. This includes having the navbar expand dynamically if more rows of page buttons are needed and having the language chooser in there, too. Another reason is, that this way it is more "compatible" with the new liquid scaling, i.e. the controls won't as easily get in the way of the content. If you don't like it like that, feel free to move the controls around a bit - which is easier than before, because the positions are not hardcoded anymore, but changeable in the ASUL xml files, after all.

So, the beta: download here.

Again, the disclaimer: this is a beta, it is not the final version of 2.0 (although probably pretty damn close), so use at your own peril.
