Not counting back cover as pages

I produced a couple of books and used the -2 offset so that the page numbering begins with the first page.

But I would also like to be able to limit the number of pages so that the last page does not include the back cover.

Maybe that adding an option to add would be to "count or not" the stiff pages as pages would be useful.

Like <page stiff="true" foldfx="false" count="false"><img ....cover.png .... img></page>

You mean so it shows a "-" in the page number fields instead of the page number?
In that case I think an attribute page@navbarnum which allows a value would make
sense, allowing to define exactly what is displayed there. That would allow for more
flexibility (e.g. you could have "iii", "iv", "v"... as numbering, which is used in some
books for the index or appendix).

If that's not what you mean, please clarify
