Chapters have to start on the right page (uneven page number); as you already realized.
But usually you can split the chapters the way that a chapter starts with an uneven page.

In most cases even the chapter markers (different colored "page bubbles" at chapter start) should be correct...
Only with spreadpages at chapter borders you will need to be creative and introduce something meaningful to not have 2 empty pages...
