Tools

This chapter gives an overview about tools we suggest to consider for working with MegaZine3. Other tools might be a better fit for your needs. We only work on Windows so far, but know that sSome of the tools support OSx (MAC computers) also. For more information about  tools for OSx please see the FAQ area.

notepad++

notepad++ is a free and powerful context sensitive editor for Windows.

swftools

This set of utilities is needed for the PDF conversion. Our MZ3_tools make use as pdf2swf. Download, installation and use is shown in this chapter.

MZ3 Tool

This is a Windows batch command file offered for free download, which helps to create a working MZ3 title out of images and PDF files fast and easily.

All folders and files needed to publish a MZ3 title online (on a server via internet) or to save as Offline version on media like CD or memory stick, are created automatically. Including the MZ3 configuration file megazine.mz3.
That file as well as the parametrized _config file can be used as a template file for future titles. 

xnview

xnview offers very powerful options like resize and rename of images. You will need a tool to adjust images in size and resolution to make them best fit for your MegaZine3 photo books.

XMLBlueprint8

XMLblueprint is affordable tool, specialized in editing XML files on Windows systems with

  • highlighting support
  • automatic pick list
  • validation against DTD table
